Day 2 Summary: European Young Masters

The top U16  boys and girls  from 27 nations  have continued their journey in  the 2021 European Young Masters on the  Cooke Course at  Vierumäki  Golf Club in Finland.  

 

GIRLS 

 

Czech player Denisa Vodickova imposed herself in the second round and returned the lowest score of the girl’s group, carding a 68 (-4) that included five birdies. She is the leader by three shots after two rounds with a total score of 137 (-7). 

 

Positioned in second place are German Helen Briem and Belgian Savannah De Bock with a total of 140 (-4). Briem, who was leading after Round 1, started with three birdies but struggled on the back-nine, finishing her round at 71 (-1).

 

De Bock delivered a solid second round with four birdies and one bogey, returning a 69 (-3). 

 

Spanish player Paula Martin completed her second round with a 71 (-1), positioning her in 4th place with a total of 141 (-3).

 

Italian, Francesca Fiorellini, is right behind delivering a 71 (-1) as well for the second round, placing her in 5th position ahead of the final round with a total of 142 (-2).

BOYS 

Tim Wiedemeyer maintained his lead on Day 2 with a solid second round 71 (-1). 

 

Wiedemeyer started strong with an eagle on the first hole and two birdies on the back-nine, but struggled towards the end making two consecutive bogeys on holes 15 and 16 to finish at 136 (-8) with 18 holes to play. One shot behind him, and 2nd after two rounds, is Spanish player Jorge Siyuan Hao. Siyuan Hao returned a colourful score of 70 (-2) with 5 bogeys and 7 birdies leading to a 36-hole total of 137 (-7). 

 

France saw their players going up in the ranking. Valentin Luna delivered a clean round of 70 (-2) for a total of 142 (-2) positioning him in the 3rd place. 

 

Tied at the 4th position is the other French player, Noa Auch-Roy, who completed the lowest score of this second round of competition with a 68 (-4) including a strong finish of 4 birdies on the back-nine. His total is 143 (-2) after 2 rounds. Can Gurdenli is also ranked 4th, the Turkish player made three birdies and three bogeys on Friday.

NATION’S CUP 

 

Germany stayed leaders of the Nation’s Cup with a total of 419 (-13), extending their advantage to eight strokes. Spain also kept their second position at the end of the 2nd round with a total of 427 (-5). In third position is team France who got ahead of Czech Republic. The French team is one shot behind Spain at a total of 428 (-4).
