11 Jul 2017

The European Team Championship week has started today at five venues across Europe.

The European Ladies’ Team Championship is played at Montado Golf Resort, Portugal, the European Amateur Team Championship at Diamond CC, Austria, the Divison 2 at Zala Springs Golf Resort, Hungary, the European Girls’ Team Championship at St. Laurence Golf, Finland, and the European Boys’ Team Championship at La Manga Club, Spain.

Over the next two days the six-player teams will fight for one of the eight places available in Flight A of the match play phase, which gives them the opportunity to compete for the trophy and medals. The aggregate of the five lowest stroke play scores on day one and two will constitute each team’s total score for determining the match play draw.

From Thursday to Saturday the nations will then face each other in match play. The medal matches will be played over two foursomes in the mornings and five singles in the afternoon, whereas the non-medal matches consist of one foursome followed by four singles.

The 2016 European Ladies’ Team Champions, England will strive to defend the title against 18 teams in Portugal, the Scottish men’s team will try to make the hattrick complete in Austria, whereas in Hungary, nine teams will fight for the promotion to the European Amateur Team Championship. Defending girls' champions, Italy, face 18 teams in Finland and the defending boys' champions, France, will compete against 15 other teams in Spain.
