Heath and De Bock Lead Packed Leaderboard in Paris

22 Jul 2022

England's Charlotte Heath and Savannah De Bock from Belgium lead the European Ladies' Amateur Championship with just one round to play.

Heath started Round 3 with a one shot lead at Golf de Saint-Germain, France. A dropped shot on the 4th, her first bogey in nearly 36 holes, didn't shake the English player, who immediately bounced back with two birdies. Two more birdies on the back nine totalled 69 (-3) and a third straight round in the 60s, moving her to -13 for the week and maintaing her lead.

Savannah De Bock, playing alongside Heath in the final group, briefly took the outright lead thanks to a chip-in birdie on the 13th, but would finish the day with an excellent 67 (-5), and tied with Heath.

Ines Archer (FRA) and Andrea Lignell (SWE) will make up the penultimate pairing in the final round. An impressive bogey-free 65 (-7) from Archer brought her to -12 and just one shot behind. Lignell, also one shot behind on -12, carded a 68 (-4) for her third straight round in the 60s in Round 3.

The Czech Republic's Patricie Mackova (-11) and Italy's Carolina Melgrati (-10) are both in contention and will play in the third-to-last group on Saturday.

11 players finished Round 3 in a tie for seventh place on -8. They'll all need a low round to have a shot at a spot on the podium, but are still certainly within touching distance if the putts drop in Round 4.

Among the group is England's Caly McGinty, who was eight-under-par for the day playing the 18th. She left herself a two-metre birdie putt on the final green for a 63, which would have been the lowest score of the week. An unfortunate three-putt meant she would have to settle for a 65 (-7).

65 players made the cut at a score of +1, qualifying for Saturday's final round.
