The Continent of Europe take a narrow lead after a closely contested first session of foursomes.

Mark Power and Benjamin Jones claimed the first point for Great Britain and Ireland after having lead their match from the beginning against David Nyfjall and Rasmus Hogaard. The second foursome, between the visitors Matias Honkala and Markus Braadlie versus Luke Harries and Darren Howie, was more balanced and ended with a halve.

In match 3, two consecutive birdies from the continental pair Alejandro Aguilera Martin – Pedro Lencart Silva on holes 12 and 13 gave them a narrow lead over Toby Briggs and Charlie Strickland which they managed to keep until a final win by two holes. In the last match, Falko Hanisch and Adrien Dumont de Chassart looked in control all the way over Alex Fitzpatrick and Thomas Plumb and sealed a 4&3 victory for the Continent with an eagle on 15.

The Continent of European leads by 2,5 to 1,5 before the afternoon singles.
