Pernheden and Campomanes Claim European Seniors' Titles

Mattias Pernheden has won the 2019 European Senior Men's Championship in Switzerland. The Swedish player, who finished runner-up in the event last year, carded a final round 66 (-5) which included four birdies on the back-nine, to reach 10-under-par for the tournament and claim a two stroke victory at Golf Patriziale Ascona. Pernheden's total of 203 sets a new scoring record for the European Senior Men's Championship, which was previously 211 strokes.

England's Edward Richardson claimed the silver medal with a score of eight-under-par, while Thomas Nilsson of Sweden jumped up five places on the final day with a 67 (-4) to take the bronze medal.

In the Ladies' event, Macarena Campomanes claimed her third title in the space of four years after shooting a final round 67 (-4) to reach six-under-par, claiming a seven-stroke victory. Her total of 207 strokes sets a new record for the European Senior Ladies' Championship, which was previously 215. Campomanes becomes the fourth player to win the trophy on three occasions.

Ireland's Laura Webb finished in second place, while Christine Petit Martin of France finished third.
