Perrino Shines on Day Two at The Dutch - European Championship for Golfers with Disability

21 Jul 2023

Day two of the 2023 European Individual Championship for Golfers with Disability at The Dutch is in the books.

Despite stronger winds than the previous day in the Netherlands, Italy's Tommaso Perrino was able to shoot the lowest score of the week on the challenging links-style layout to take the lead in the men's category.

A four-under-par round of 67, four shots lower than any other score this week, moved the Italian from 10th to 1st on the leaderboard with a total of +2. Perrino's round featured four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 13th.

He'll take a one shot lead into the final round over Sweden's Johan Kammerstad, who carded a steady level-par 71 to stay at +3.

Four other players are tied on +6 and remain in contention with just 18 holes to play. Rasmus Lia (SWE), Rene Schwenk (GER), Bradley Smith (ENG), and Charles-Henri Quelin (FRA) will all have to make up four shots on Saturday in order to take home the men's trophy. Although with a difficult layout, dropped shots could quickly come ahead.

With medals awarded to the top-three, the battle for the podium will also be hotly contested on the final day at The Dutch.

Mette Wegge Lynggaard (DEN), a further six shots back, occupies the final spot on the podium for the time being.

However Germany's Jennifer Sräga sits within just two shots of a bronze medal in fourth position.

In the seated category, Richard Kluwen (NED) has opened a commanding lead, and looks set to claim a third consecutive European individual title on Saturday. He'll take an eight shot lead into the final round over Belgium's Graham Freeman and France's Melody Roccaz.

The pair might face too big of a gap to catch the defending champion with just 18 holes to play, although will battle it out for the runner-up spot in the final round.
