RCF La Boulie Win 5th European Ladies' Club Title

01 Oct 2022

Racing Club de France La Boulie has won the 2022 European Ladies' Club Trophy at CUBO Golf, Slovenia.

The three round tournament, which is contested by the national champion clubs of each EGA member country, was disrupted due to heavy rain during the week. Play had to be suspended on the first day of play after the course became unplayable. Round 1 was completed on Day 2 and the second and final round was played on Saturday.

With three players per team, the two best scores from each round count towards the teams' totals.

RCF La Boulie took the lead over the 17 other teams in the field after the first round. The French club, represented by Chloe Salort, Vaïrana Heck and Mila Jurine, were the only team to post two scores under par at CUBO Golf. The former two both signed for rounds of 70 (-1) giving their team a one shot lead over Hamburger Golf Club (GER).

At the halfway stage, defending champions Golf Club de Toulouse were also in contention on +3, five shots behind the leaders.

In the final round, the French side took the initiatve early and never looked back. Vaïrana Heck, who helped France to the European Girls' Team Championship title in Iceland this year, went -4 for the front-nine to extend her club's advantage. Chloe Salort then made three birdies in a row early on the back-nine to builld a large gap over Hamburger Golf Club.

Heck and Salort both parred the tricky par-4 18th to sign for bogey-free rounds of 66 (-5) and 67 (-4) respectively, earning a record-extending fifth European title for their club.

None of the other 17 teams could match the French ladies on the final day, meaning the winning margin was no less than 13 shots.

Hamburger Golf Club dropped shots on Day 2, carding rounds of 72 (+1) and 73 (+2), but held onto second place to earn the silver medals with a total of +2.

The strongest team on paper in terms of handicap, Beskydsky Golf Club (CZE), struggled in the rainy conditions of Round 1. The Czech club recovered well on Saturday however, moving up three positions thanks to a bogey-free 68 (-3) from Denisa Vodickova, and claiming the last spot on the podium.

Golf Club de Toulouse (FRA) just missed out on medals in the defence of their title, finishing fourth on +7. Golf Club Padova of Italy copmleted the top-five on +9.

The 2023 European Ladies' Club Trophy will travel to Bulgaria and Pravets Golf Club.
