Royal Hague Golf & Country Club to Host 2025 Vagliano Trophy Matches

Europe’s best female amateur golfers will head to the Netherlands in 2025.

The Vagliano trophies, which see amateur women’s and girls’ teams from the Continent of Europe and Great Britain & Ireland go head to head for two days of match play, will be contested at Royal Hague Golf and Country Club (Koninklijke Haagsche Golf en Country Club or KHGCC) in June next year.

Designed by Harry Colt and Hugh Alison, the undulating par-72 KHGCC course will provide a challenging test to the 16 women and 12 girls teeing it up next year.

The links-style layout is ranked among the top-80 in the world and has hosted many major events in the past including numerous Dutch Opens and more recently, the 2018 European Amateur Championship.

The contest has a long history which dates back to 1931 when André Vagliano presented a trophy to the French Golf Federation and Ladies’ Golf Union for an annual match between Great Britain & Ireland and France. The format was changed in 1959 to include the entire Continent and has been played every other year since. The EGA selects the Continent of Europe teams, while The R&A fields the GB&I squads.

The 2025 edition of the women’s match will be the 33rd between the two teams since 1959. Despite a nearly identical number of wins by each side since its inauguration, 16-15 to the Continent of Europe and one match tied, the Europeans have dominated the contest in recent years winning all of the last eight matches.

A long list of star names in the world of women’s golf have competed in the match in the past including Linn Grant, Anna Norqvist, Carlota Ciganda, Céline Boutier, Leona Maguire, Caroline Hedwall and Georgia Hall among many others.

The women’s match will return to the Netherlands for the first time in more than 50 years, when it was played at Eindhoven Golf Club in 1973.

The junior edition, played between six player teams of U16 girls, returns to the Netherlands for the second time in three years after being staged on its own at Hilversumsche Golf Club in 2021.

The events, which feature both foursomes and singles matches, will be played alongside each other on 27 and 28 June 2025.
