13 Jul 2018

Spain played Germany and Switzerland faced Sweden in the semi-finals of the European Boys' Team Championship, Jean-Louis Dupont Trophy, at Golf Resort Kaskada Brno, Czech Republic today.

Last year's runners-up, Spain, won both morning foursomes matches against Germany. Eduard Rousaud, and David Puig, who topped the individual stroke play ranking, won their match on the 15th hole, but it took Alejandro Aguilera and Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra 21 holes to claim the second point for the number-one seeds against Laurenz Schiergen and Tim Tillmanns.

Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra won his singles match against Tim Tillmanns 4&3, meaning Gonzalo Leal's birdie on the 19th hole would send Spain to their second succssive final.

Switzerland, who earned promotion to the championship by winning the division 2 event last year, also won both of the morning foursomes matches in the other semi-final by scores of 4&3 and 3&2.

After Nicola Gerhardsen defeated Rasmus Hjelm 2&1, Switzerland needed just one more point to win the match. Loic Ettlin would birdie the 19th hole to send Switzerland to their first final since 2001.

Spain will be trying to win their seventh European Boys' Team Championship title, while Switzerland will be hoping to win their first European Team Championship in any category.
