Round 2 of the European Ladies' Amateur Championship was characterised by unusually hot weather in Finland.
At the halfway stage, three players sit in a tied for the lead with a strong chasing pack close behind.
Marie Eline Madsen (DEN) was the first player to reach -7 this week. A bogey-free 69 (-3) propelled her to the top of the leaderboard early in the day.
"I played better today actually" said Madsen after her round. "I missed many short putts which I don't like but generally it was very safe play the whole round, not many mistakes."
"I've played many big tournaments the last couple of weeks so I'm just kind of feeling the rhythm and I can't wait for the next couple of days."
Soon after Madsen signed her scorecard, the overnight leader, Andrea Revuelta (ESP), managed a run of three birdies in four holes between the 5th and 8th. The flourish of red numbers put her to -8 for the tournament but the outright lead wouldn't last long after bogeys on the 9th and 10th.
Nevertheless Revuelta finished the day in a tie for the lead after a birdie on the 16th and a round of 71 (-1).
"I feel like yesterday was the perfect round, and today I made mistakes which is the normal thing to do on a golf course" said Revuelta after the round. "I knew that it wasn't going to be as smooth as yesterday the situation and finally got a good result."
Carolina Melgrati (ITA) joined the pair on -7 later in the day. The Italian, who shot -3 in Round 1 despite two double-bogeys, carded a 68 (-4) on Thursday to earn a spot in Friday's final group with Madsen and Revuelta.
Louise Rydqvist (SWE) and Rosie Belsham (ENG) were the biggest movers on Day 2.
The pair started the day in a tie for 33rd, but were both able to shot 66 (-6) and climb into a tie for 4th. Rydqvist made six birdies on her back-nine to card the lowest score of the week on the trickier of the two loops, while Belsham finished with a bang to card the same score.
The English player holed-out for an eagle on the par-4 17th before finishing with another birdie on the par-5 18th.
Both players will head into moving day just two shots back, and are joined by Sweden's Meja Örtengren on -5.
The first of two cuts was made on Thursday evening with the top-96 and ties progressing to Round 3. A total of 104 players ultimately advanced with the cut line at +7. The field will be cut again after 'moving day' to the top 60 and ties.
